Description

Please join us on Saturday, Dec 7th from 11:30AM to 1:00PM for a session facilitated by Dr. Aditi Patel and Dr. Alia Ali. The purpose of this session is to help and to inspire those applying for CaRMS by hearing of the experiences of two current residents and their insights on what it takes to be successful in the residency interview.

Dr. Aditi Patel, a Canadian student who went abroad to pursue medicine, graduated with an MD from Poland; however, the road coming back home was not easy. She completed her MCC exams and gained Canadian health care experience by completing several observerships over the course of 2 years. In July 2018, she successfully matched to the Family Medicine program at the University of Calgary. Currently, she is a first year resident and the Postgraduate medical education representative for the University of Calgary.

Dr. Alia Ali, an IMG from Pakistan, has had a long and varied route, like other IMGs. She came with postgraduate experience in Obstetrics and Gynecology, worked through the Canadian exams and worked several odd jobs before she got a position as a Surgical Assistant in Alberta, a position she held for 3 years before finally matching to Family Medicine at the University of Calgary.
