HEALTHHUB OVERVIEW
AIMGA has been creating opportunities for our members to support throughout the pandemic. In March 2020, we created a COVID Response Team which has turned into a Health and Wellness Team. We launched our HealthHub for Newcomers in the beginning of 2021 and have been busy supporting community members, community partners, and Alberta Health Services. Through CENC, we worked closely with The Immigrant Education Society (TIES) and ActionDignity to support the collaborative. We’ve also been supporting refugee clients of the Calgary Catholic Immigration Society (CCIS) to address vaccine hesitancy and to increase vaccine uptake. We are working closely with the Mosaic Primary Care Network and Alberta Health Services to offer educational supports and community townhalls in various languages.
OUR VACCINE NAVIGATION PROJECT
Our current project focuses on promotion of vaccines against respiratory viruses (e.g., influenza, measles, COVID-19 boosters, etc.) and catch-up vaccinations (e.g., childhood vaccinations, HPV, tetanus, etc.).
Our aim is to utilize Internationally Trained Physicians trained in the area of patient navigation to increase vaccine uptake among newcomer communities through community-based vaccine education and outreach and by providing supports in multiple languages.
LIVING WELL WITH AIMGA NEWSLETTER
The monthly Living Well with AIMGA newsletter both supports and improves the health and wellbeing of IMGs and the community by working together to share appropriate tools, tips, and health-related resources that are compiled by medical experts on AIMGA’s Health and Wellness Team.

VACCINE RESOURCES
Our team worked in partnership to develop informational flyers about the most common vaccinations. The flyers are available in English, Arabic, Dari, Pashto, Spanish, and Tigrinya.
