Description

AIMGA is pleased to offer an evening IELTS Preparation Course on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting November 12th. This 25-hour course consists of 10 classes from 6:00 to 8:30 PM on November 12, 14, 19, 21, 26, 28, and December 3, 5, 10, 12, and will be taught by Katherine Anderson, an experienced English language instructor and an IELTS assessor.

Katherine has worked for several colleges and universities in Calgary, recently delivering the Communication Skills for Health Professionals program at Mount Royal University, and currently teaching a variety of IELTS preparation courses.She is passionate about working with advanced-level students, particularly IMGs. Katherine obtained bachelor’s degrees in both philosophy and religious studies, before earning a master’s degree in adult education and a TESL certificate.

The Career Transition Program (CTP) assists IMGs who are considering an alternative pathway into the Canadian health care system as a short or long-term career goal. The workshop will cover the following topics:

  • Managing transitions
  • Making the most of change
  • Dealing with the loss of professional identity
  • Finding a job in Canada that makes use of your experience, education and expertise
  • Alternative careers
  • Networking
  • Informational interviews
  • Understanding and using social media effectively

Description

AIMGA hosts a New Member Orientation (NMO) which is a mandatory orientation for all new AIMGA members. The New Member Orientation provides you with an overview of the pathways to licensure and their requirements as well as an overview of all AIMGA services, programs and eligibility criteria. The purpose of this session is to provide you with an understanding of AIMGA and to help you determine which pathways are most suitable for you and the steps needed to guarantee your success.

Please join us on Wednesday, December 4th from 1:30 to 2:30PM for an information session regarding the AIMGP CaRMS Cycle and Proof of Residency requirements.

Applicants must be permanently and continuously living in Alberta of December 1, 2019 to May 15, 2020 to be considered an eligible applicant to the AIMGP. AIMGA may provide a letter under Option C (physical presence and continuously living on a day-to-day basis in the province of Alberta for the 24 weeks starting December 1, 2019 to May 15, 2020).

This session will provide an overview of the requirements and how AIMGA can support your application process by acting as a guarantor.

Description

Join us for this two hour workshop with CRISM Prairies (Canadian Research Initiative in Substance Misuse).

CRISM is a national network of researchers, service providers, policy makers and people with lived experience.

During this two hour workshop, participants will learn:

  • What is CRISM?
  • Alberta’s Opioid Crisis Response
  • Effective clinical and community based treatment, harm reduction & interventions
  • Awareness of OPTIMA
  • Awareness of national opioid use disorder treatment guidelines

Limited seats: 40 people.
