    Full Job Description:
    The University of Calgary Spine Program is a Neurosurgical/Orthopaedic Surgery integrated program active in spinal surgery clinical care delivery for patients in Southern Alberta, as well as basic science and clinical research and spinal surgery fellow/resident/medical student education. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and efficient Administrator to support day to day program operations.

    The position is a 0.3 FTE independent contractor position with variable work hours and periods of higher work volume interspersed with lower volume periods. A high degree of scheduling flexibility, to accommodate irregular work hours, will be considered a substantial asset in job applicants. While significant components of work duties can be completed virtually, regular intermittent in-person attendance at Foothills Medical Centre is mandatory.

    The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:
    · Prior experience in a health care program support/administrative assistant role
    · Highly developed organizational skills with proven ability to work independently and collaboratively
    · Previous training in business administration
    · Prior experience with financial bookkeeping
    · Familiarity/prior experience with physician billing software will be an asset
    · Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    Work Duties of the Calgary Spine Program Administrator include:
    · Administrative support to Calgary Spine Program Chair (e.g. arranging, attending and minuting monthly spine program business meetings and other ad hoc meetings, coordinating monthly OR block allocation, developing and maintaining faculty call schedule, etc.).
    · Spine Program financial bookkeeping, including regular payroll for research staff.
    · Administrative support for the Calgary Spine Fellowship Program (e.g. onboarding of new fellows with AHS/U of C/CPSA, communication with prospective fellowship applicants, preparation of applications, surgical fellows billing and payments)
    · Support for Calgary Spine Program educational activities including an annual spinal surgery national resident course and an annual visiting professorship.
    Job Type: Part-time
