The Department of Psychology in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Calgary is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Associate in Girls’ Health and Well-Being Promotion, with a focus on program evaluation and community-based research.
    Job Description:
The Postdoctoral Associate will be responsible for leading (in collaboration with the PI and a community partner agency) research and evaluation for a school-based healthy relationships promotion program for girls in grades 4-6 (~ages 8-12). This will include (1) analyzing and mobilizing findings from data collected to date; (2) co-creating a mixed-methods evaluation framework with the community partner (Centre for Sexuality); (3) executing the evaluation research in all partner schools and community-based organizations; (4) supporting the development of a parallel program for grades 7-9; and (5) publishing and presenting on research findings. This is an outstanding opportunity for an early career Associate to build an independent program of research focused on promoting the health and well-being of girls in middle childhood. Our lab’s current partnership with the Centre for Sexuality on their program for boys has led to over $2 million in funded research, multiple publications and presentations, and an ongoing 8-year partnership.

The Postdoctoral Associate will receive a stipend of $60,000 CAD/year plus Plan C health benefits. The Postdoctoral Associate will also be provided with appropriate research/office space and resources required to complete the research. The successful Associate will be strongly encouraged to apply for national/international awards.

    Qualifications:
    – Applicants must hold a PhD in psychology, human development, public health, prevention science or a related discipline by the time of the position start.
    – Expertise and experience in program evaluation, and experience conducting school- or community-based research, is required.
-Knowledge of child/adolescent development is required.
    – Ability to lead and oversee the full research project (with support from the PI).
    – Strong experience with quantitative data collection and analysis a must; experience with mixed-methods research preferred.
    – Demonstrated capacity to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
    – Excellent written and oral communication skills.
