JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is seeking motivated Physician Assistants/Clinical Assistants for two fulltime positions in Pediatric Hospital Medicine at the Health Sciences Centre.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
– The Physician/Clinical Assistant will practice on the inpatient teaching services (CTUs: Clinical Teaching Units). These teaching services consist of pediatric learners including medical students, off-service residents, and pediatric residents.

– The Physician/Clinical Assistant will be required to perform, order, and interpret diagnostic, therapeutic investigations/interventions. Duties of this position will include performing history and physical exams in a variety of settings that could include the Emergency Department, PICU, and inpatient wards; and managing patients admitted to the inpatient teaching services. PA/ClAs also participate in certain inpatient-related projects and provide valued input on committees.

– Physician/Clinical Assistants will be required to attend clinical and educational rounds as able. Administrative requirements will include standard of practice recordings of all patient encounters; these methods may require dictating or utilizing electronic medical records where/when available. Assistants must be able to communicate effectively in English with other members of interdisciplinary healthcare teams.

QUALIFICATIONS:
– Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba (CPSM) as a Physician Assistant or Clinical Assistant.
– Must be eligible for a Medical Staff Appointment.
– Prior experience an asset but not required.
Physician Assistants:
– Must be a graduate of a Physician Assistant Educational Program acceptable to CPSM.
Clinical Assistants:
– Must be a graduate of an accredited Medical School in Canada or abroad.
Must have at least one of the following:
– Clinical Assistant Assessment
– NAC OSCE
– LMCC
