Work Setting:
– Urban area
– Various locations
– Willing to relocate

– Clinic
Tasks:
– Examine patients and take their histories, order laboratory tests, X-rays and other diagnostic procedures
– Consult with other medical practitioners to evaluate patients’ physical and mental health
– Prescribe and administer medications and treatments
– Inoculate and vaccinate patients to prevent and treat diseases
– Deliver babies and provide pre-natal and post-natal care
– Advise patients on health care
– Supervise staff
– Report births, deaths, contagious and other diseases to government authorities
– Communicate health promotion, disease, illness and accident prevention to patients
– Perform patient advocacy role
– Co-ordinate or manage primary patient care
– Provide acute care management
– Provide counselling and support to patients and their families on a wide range of health and lifestyle issues
Supervision:
– Staff in various areas of responsibility
– 5-10 people
– Working groups
Certificates, Licenses, Memberships, and Courses:
– College of Family Physicians Certification (CCFP)
– Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC)
– Licensure by provincial or territorial authorities
– Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE I and MCCQE II)
Specialization in Family Practice:
– Family counselling
– Sexually transmitted diseases
Security and safety:
– Eligible for professional liability insurance
Transportation/travel information:
– Valid driver’s licence
