    Full Job Description:
    Position Summary:
    This position is responsible for supporting the Immigrant Outreach Society’s Immigrant Outreach Crisis Intervention (IOCR) project. This includes working directly with Ethiopian, Eritrean, Sudanese, and Somali Communities. This position also includes recruiting and orienting community volunteers and linking them to volunteer opportunities.

    This part-time contractual position is 20 hours per week until December 31, 2024. The position requires a flexible time commitment.

    Responsibilities:
    – Provide individual short-term problem-solving support for clients by identifying the presenting problem, goals, and available options.
    – Experience Providing mental health assessment and evidence-informed crisis intervention to clients and their families who are in emotional distress.
    – Provide crisis intervention services to individuals experiencing mental health crises
    – Conduct assessments and develop crisis intervention plans
    – Collaborate with other professionals and agencies to coordinate care and support for clients
    – Utilize case management skills to ensure clients receive appropriate resources and follow-up care
    – Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of client interactions and progress
    – Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and maintaining records
    – Provide crisis support in emergency situations.
    – Provide case management by coordinating with the appropriate additional support and services needed to ensure optimum care within the boundaries of confidentiality and disclosure.
    – Make appropriate referrals to longer-term community support services or mental health services as required.
    – Planned, organized, and facilitated group activities, training, and orientation sessions on mental health-related topics.
    – Provide education on daily living skills, such as parenting and stress management skills, for community members
    – Develop client base and network through recruitment and outreach
    – Conduct and/or arrange for community mental health support groups with the Project Lead
    working with other organizations, such as Faith-based organizations, Shelters, community agencies, schools and Maintaining confidential records
    – willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings
    – Attending bi-weekly supervision meetings
    Qualifications:
    – Have at least a BA or Diploma in social work, Psychology, or a related field
    – Previous experience in crisis response or the mental health field preferred
    – Must speak, write, and read the following languages: Amharic, Tigrigna, Afaan Oromo,
    – Volunteering with IOS is an asset
    – Prior crisis intervention work experience is an asset.
    – Excellent Verbal and Communication Skills in English
    – Skilled in the use of basic computer software – Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook, and online
