Have you started an AIMGP CAP placement or are you scheduled to start a placement?

During this lunch and learn session, our Executive Director, Deidre Lake, will provide an overview of the AIMGP Clinical Assessment Placement (CAP) and answer any questions you have. While this session will focus specifically on the AIMGP CAP, it may also be useful for those applying to the current AIMGP 2022 cycle and seeking to do observerships.

What is the AIMGP CAP?

The AIMG Program offers an opportunity to immerse and gain practical experience in a Canadian clinical setting through the Clinical Assessment Placement (CAP). CAP participants are selected at random from the pool of AIMG Program candidates who did not match during the 2021 Canadian Resident Matching Service (CaRMS) cycle. CAP participants will engage in a structured and
supervised four-week clinical or hospital placement in Edmonton, Calgary, or from a selection of rural locations. Throughout their placements, CAP participants will participate in actual patient care encounters over a range of clinical settings, for which they are expected to demonstrate effective procedural skills, clinical knowledge, communication skills and professionalism. Their competencies and attributes in a host of domains will be supervised and assessed by trained practicing physicians, resulting in a CAP Final Report.
