Description:

Learn about Alberta’s only midwifery program offered at Mount Royal University. By obtaining a degree you will become a primary-care provider in the growing field of midwifery. Graduates are prepared to write the Canadian Midwifery Registration Examination and become registered midwives.

 

This session will be conducted by Lauren Denney, Practicum and Advising Coordinator, Ashley Lazette, Admissions and Recruitment Specialist; and Kim Tam, International Admissions and Recruitment Specialist. Together they will provide information about the requirements of the program, program structure, student expectations as well about international transcripts.

 

Bios of Speakers:

Lauren Denney (she/her) Coordinator, Practicum and Advising

Lauren has been supporting Mount Royal University for 9 years and has worked in both student recruitment and academic advising before joining the Bachelor of Midwifery program. Lauren supports all student services for the Bachelor of Midwifery including academic advising and practicum coordination. Lauren loves working with Alberta’s future midwives and supporting them on their academic journey.

 

Ashley Lazette (she/her)

Ashley is an Admissions and Recruitment Specialist who has been assisting students at Mount Royal for over a year. Graduating with a degree in Gender and Sexuality Studies, Ashley is passionate about providing individuals with the care and support they need. The incredible practicum experience and intimate program setting is part of what makes Midwifery her favourite program to discuss with students.

 

Kim Tam (she/her)

One of MRU’s International Admissions & Recruitment Specialists, Kim Tam (BSc) has worked with a variety of demographics in the education sector, now focusing on working with international and refugee students in post-secondary settings. With stakeholder engagement as a core skill, Kim values personal connections and building long-term and trusting relationships with students and organizations. She is proud to represent Mount Royal University and looks forward to welcoming more international students to our close-knit community.
