Description

AIMGA is hosting a tour to the Boyle McCauley Health Clinic on November 22 & 25.The medical clinic at Boyle McCauley Health Centre provides primary health care for individuals and families with multiple systemic barriers to accessing health services.

These barriers include:

• Ethnicity
• Poverty
• Homelessness / lack of appropriate housing
• Addictions
• Mental illness
• Literacy and education levels
• Social isolation and lack of social supports
• No Alberta Health Care coverage
• Partnership with ARCH and ERC

The clinic provides a broad range of medical services in-clinic and in the community, and are equipped to deal with minor emergencies, including stitches, burn treatment, and wound treatment.

This tour aims to provide an insider perspective of the facilities as well as the clients of BMHC. The tour will also include a visit to BMHC’s Supervised Consumption Site in which they aim to share knowledge and provide important information based on the harm reduction model.

Participants are encouraged to bring an item from the list below to donate to the clinic:

• Socks Undergarments
• Water Bottles
• Non-Perishable Snacks
• Feminine Hygiene
• Products Body Wash/Shampoo/Conditioner
• Body Lotion
• Razors
• Hand/Foot Warmer Packs
• Clothing & Hats (New or Gently Used)
• Winter Boot/Coats (New or Gently Used)

*Participants are to inform AIMGA 24 hours prior if they are unable to make it for the tour.
