The Career Transition Program (CTP) for International Medical Graduates (IMGs) has been made possible with funds from the Government of Alberta to assist IMGs who are considering an alternative pathway (i.e., career) into the Canadian healthcare system as a short, intermediate, or long-term goal.
This is a no-cost 12-week program offered on Saturdays (Cohort 20) from 9:00am-1:30pm MST.
Applicants will be selected based on the following:
1. IMGs who are interested in alternative career pathways;
2. IMGs who are willing and ready to seek employment; and
3. Permanent Residents, Canadian Citizens or Refugees (not refugee claimants).
IMGs who are either unemployed or underemployed will be given preference. Applicants who are selected will be required to fulfill program requirements (i.e., adhere to attendance policies, complete evaluations, and participate in follow up calls or surveys to track program outcomes).
We are currently accepting applications from IMGs who are interested in this program until seats are full. Candidates will be contacted by AIMGA’s Program Coordinator to arrange an online interview to determine suitability and to gather information as required by our funders.
Interested applicants must:
• Be residents of Alberta
• Have a valid SIN
• Have taken an English Language Test
• Not be receiving any other support from the government of Alberta
• Be an AIMGA member in good standing
• Be able to complete 80% of the program, which is equivalent to two absences
• Be committed to seeking employment or enrolling in an education program related to their alternative career path within the next three to six months.
