Description

The Edmonton Mennonite Centre for Newcomers (EMCN) was founded in the 1980s to assist Vietnamese, Cambodian and Laotian refugees. They aimed to walk

alongside newcomers in their integration process in Canada. And these remain the main pillars of today’s EMCN: language, employment, settlement, community engagement,

and an ethnically diverse staff that reflects the groups coming to Canada.

EMCN works with up to 17,000 newcomers each year, from all parts of the world, out of five locations and various community locations.

This session will cover the various services and programs that EMCN provides to newcomers. Laurie Hauer, Director of Program

and Services will be the speaker for the afternoon.
