Who is the SJT/FM-ProC test for?

All 2022 CaRMS applicants to the following six Family Medicine Programs: Universities of Calgary, Alberta, Montreal, and Ottawa as well as  Queens and McMaster Universities are required to sit a new 70-minute online Situational Judgement Test  (SJT), called “FM-ProC” (Family Medicine Professional Choices)

What does it assess?

This assessment is to better assess 4 selected attributes in applicants that are  critically important to being a Family Physician: Professional Integrity, Adaptability,  Team-Working Skills and Empathy/Compassion

Test registration details for 2022 CaRMS applicants

Registration to sit this test will open on 8th December 2021. More information about how to register for the test is provided in CaRMS Program Descriptions.  The registration deadline is 12 noon, Eastern Time (ET) January 11th, 2022.  You will be able to access and complete the test between January 17th and January  31st, 2022. The cost will be $38 which is exactly what it costs the programs to make this test available to candidates. Payment will be required at the time of your registration. 

What to expect from the workshop

This workshop will be facilitated by our Executive Director, Deidre Lake. The workshop will act as a guide on what to expect from question types and provide strategies for responding to different question types for successful completion. Practice questions will be reviewed and discussed. A Family Medicine resident will be available to provide insights from their perspective as well as the FM-ProC test will gauge professional skills and character. The workshop provided will deconstruct the skill sets and approaches that would make for a successful judgement test candidate.
