The competencies a nd the objectives for the NAC OSCE and QE2 are reviewed and the expectatio ns of a PGY1 resident versus a PGY2 resident are outlined for the differen t case scenarios presented. These sessions are facilitated by an experienc ed medical educator from UofA. Standardized patients are used for hands-on practice. The sessions focus on taking an organized history\, clinical kn owledge and skills\, physical exam skills\, the think-aloud technique\, ap proach to the patient\, ethics\, professionalism\, communication and decis ion-making abilities.\n\nThe program objectives are:\n\n to understand th e exam objectives\, format\, and assessment criteria\n to increase clinic al knowledge\, decision-making\, and management across a broad range of ca ses through discussion on current evidence and interactive\, hands-on prac tice scenarios and feedback\n to review specific tasks such as case prese ntations\, interpreting of results based on expected formats\n to enhance communication\, cultural and language skills relative to patient-centered care and the Canadian context\n to familiarize oneself with time frames allotted for demonstrating competencies\n\nLimited spaces are available fo r this OSCE Preparation Program. Members who wish to participate must be a n active member of AIMGA and have a complete profile.
