Description

Join us on Wednesday, September 25th for Challenging Our Story of Canada: Timeline Activity with Chelsea Burke, Educational Lead of the John Humphrey Centre for Peace & Human Rights.

This workshop will take participants through a historical timeline of Canada from pre-contact, before colonization, to current events. Participants will learn how various milestones about Indigenous, settler and immigrant cultures impacted various legislation, economic, social and health issues that have created some divisions and also brought people together. This workshop creates an important opportunity to foster a deeper understanding of the diverse stories that make up Canadian history and encourages dialogue on the evolution of citizenship and inclusion.

Chelsea has a degree in Education from the University of Alberta with a minor in Social Studies. She has a great passion for pursuing social justice and building community through inquiry, discovery and collaboration. She looks forward to your participation and to facilitating this session.

If the workshop is full and you would like to be placed on a wait list, please contact Tisha at tisha@aimga.ca or call 587.524.2749
