Description

AIMGA’s Community health and wellness group meetings are held on Fridays from 9:30 to 11:00am. This group consists of members who joined our COVID Response Team to assist AHS with Cargill Food Outbreak. Our members called employees to educate them in first languages and created video-mediated materials in 19+ languages to educate newcomers in Alberta about COVID19. These video-mediated materials are available on our COVID19 page on our website and we encourage you to share these. If your language is not listed and you’d like to contribute, please contact shola at shola@aimga.ca.

Our members have also conducted webinars in first languages and in English to newcomers enrolled in ESL classes.

Description

First impressions are incredibly important, how we present ourselves to future employers is important in that it leads them to how comfortable they feel hiring you.

This workshop will discuss the importance of having a professional bio and tips on how to take a professional headshot using your cellphone and desktop camera.

The session will be conducted by Tisha Raj (AIMGA staff) and Jen Rush of JRush Photography.

Tisha is currently the co-facilitator of the Career Transition Pathway (CTP) program and will talk about creating a professional biography. Jen, born in Edmonton and raised in the Middle East took up photography as a hobby and is now a proud business owner of her own company. Jen had the opportunity of working with cohort 6 of CTP Edmonton based participants last fall. She will be providing us with tips and tricks on how to take that superb headshot!

<Limited spots are available>

*Participants are to inform AIMGA 24 hours prior if they are unable to make it for this session.

Description

The MCCQE Part I is a summative examination that assesses the critical medical knowledge and clinical decision-making ability of a candidate at a level expected of a medical student who is completing his or her medical degree in Canada. The examination is based on the MCC Objectives, which are organized under the CanMEDS roles. Candidates graduating and completing the MCCQE Part I normally enter supervised practice. Aside from formal accreditation processes of the undergraduate and postgraduate education programs, the MCCQE Part I is the only national standard for medical schools across Canada and, therefore, is administered at the end of medical school.

The MCCQE Part I is a one-day, computer-based test. Candidates have four hours in the morning to complete 210 Multiple-Choice Questions and up to three and a half hours in the afternoon for the Clinical Decision-Making component, which consists of 38 cases with short-menu and short-answer write-in questions. For specialist IMGs, the QE1 requires a complete review of all areas of medicine.

AIMGA’s MCCQE1 study groups are offered throughout the year on a quarterly basis. AIMGA provides computer software study materials and other relevant resources as a means of preparation (i.e. UWorld, QBank, MCC Preparation materials).

Please note it is required that you register here on the website before accessing the study session with the following Zoom link:
