GETTING STARTED

Register with the Medical Council of Canada

Prepare to apply to CSPA and/or AIMG Program/CARMs

Do you meet the CSPA’s requirement for direct entry into practice (Full, Special Register, Provisional/PRA)?

YES

(AB Practice Ready Assessment)

    Apply to CSPA for independent license to practice/PRA-AB

  • 2

    Obtain CSPA eligibility letter to apply for AHS-approved sponsorship positions

  • 3

    Family Medicine applicants must pass Therapeutics Decision Making exam prior to next step

  • 4

    Once an AHS eligible position obtained, undergo the Practice Readiness Assessment (PRA-AB) for a duration of 3-6 months

  • 5

    Obtain a provisional license to practice for required period of time.

    Visit the CSPA website for the most current updates concerning IMGs to apply for Independent Practice permit in Alberta
