The Alberta Health Service, Calgary Zone, Foothills Medical Centre, is looking for a Tissue Specialist II. The individual is responsible for the recovery, processing, preservation and distribution of human tissue for transplant. The position also includes participation in the processing, preservation and distribution of living donor human tissue. Health Canada and the American Association of Tissue Bank Standards regulate all processes and practices.
In this role, the Tissue Specialist II will also provide on-call coverage per the rotation. He/she will be participating in the development of the Southern Alberta Tissue Program to serve the needs of tissue transplantation locally, regionally and nationally. He/she also will participate in quality control and quality assurance processes, public/professional activities and program development. The position is under the leadership of the Unit Manager and Manager of the Southern Alberta Organ and Tissue Donation Program. Travel may be required to other facilities within Southern Alberta to support tissue recovery.
