Tisha RajParticipantHere are notes about this part of the application. Note that most of you will be choosing Option C.
- 24 weeks of Residence in Alberta. All 4 proofs below must be submitted.
- Upload a notarized/commissioned and properly executed Residence in Alberta Statutory Declaration Form, downloaded from, and dated anytime from May 18, 2021 to June 4, 2021.
If you have not been residing in Alberta since December 1, 2020, please scratch December 1, 2020 on the form and write your actual start date and initial next to it. Also make sure you are applying for Administrative Exceptions.
- Upload ONE of the following, confirming continuously living in and physically present in Alberta from December 1, 2020 to May 18, 2021.
- original or electronic letter(s) of employment containing all required information to confirm continuous employment in Alberta
- original or electronic letter(s) from an accredited educational institution containing all required information to confirm continuously living in Alberta
- original or electronic Guarantor Letter(s) prepared by an eligible guarantor person(s) confirming continuously living in Alberta
Letters must be dated between May 18, 2021 and June 4, 2021 (as proof you have fulfilled residing in the province of Alberta for 24 weeks). - Upload a copy of an active Alberta Personal Health Card
- Upload a copy of applicant’s valid and current Alberta Operator’s Licence.
OR
Upload a copy of applicant’s valid and current Alberta photo identification card (non-operator’s)
- Upload a notarized/commissioned and properly executed Residence in Alberta Statutory Declaration Form, downloaded from, and dated anytime from May 18, 2021 to June 4, 2021.
- Notary: Please review this FAQ topic to obtain information about where to get your document notarized. It will have to be notarized between May 18 and June 4, 2021.
- Due to the current unique situation of COVID-19, you are encouraged to submit multiple letters (place of employment or accredited educational institution and/or guarantor letters) to prove your residence from December 1, 2020 to May 18, 2021.
- Carefully read the complete guidelines and the sample letters available on the forms page as AIMGP maintains strict guidelines about what the letter must contain. Some of the requirements of the individual writing the letter for you include:
- Must be present from December 1, 2020 to May 18, 2021.
- Must have personally known the applicant for at least 6 months.
- Must be available for contact by the AIMG Program weekdays during the daytime throughout the file review period (July 31, 2021 to September 30, 2021) to confirm the applicant’s presence in Alberta and the details within the letter prepared by the guarantor.
You must be physically present in Alberta to have your documents notarized.May 18, 2021 at 2:40 pm #13909
Qiong WangParticipantHello Tisha,
This is Qiong Wang. I would like to double check with you before I go to the Notary Office again.
Only 2 documents need to be notarized, right?! All the Guarantor Letters, Alberta Personal Health Card, and Driver’s Licence (option C) do NOT.
My Alberta Identity Verification Form was notarized on May 6, 2021. And Residency in Alberta Statutory Declaration will be notarized on May 21, 2021. Are those 2 dates dated correctly (no need to be on the same date, right?)?Cheers,
Della (Qiong Wang)

Tisha RajParticipantIf you have a photo ID or a driver’s license renewed/issued/upgraded after December 1, 2020 there is no need to apply for Administrative Exceptions. You may also submit your letter of explanation if you choose. There are 3 spots at the bottom of the supporting documents upload page to upload any extraneous documents an applicant wishes to submit in support of their 2022 Cycle application.
