    Position Overview

    The Department of Anaesthesia in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Clinical Research Coordinator. This Full-Time Fixed Term position is for approximately 9 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

    Reporting to the Principal Investigator.

    Position will be based out of the Alberta Children’s Hospital. Some possible evening and weekend hours to facilitate data collection, management and oversight. While this position will be overseen by the principal investigator, a substantial amount of independence and judgment will be required.

    Position Description

    Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

    Supporting and managing multi-method (quantitative and qualitative) research projects at the Alberta Children’s Hospital, which may include patient/healthcare provider recruitment, study execution, data collection (interviews, questionnaires or abstract screening), monitoring, entry, cleaning, scoring/coding, and analysis, as well as manuscript preparation

    Preparing ethics submissions and communicating with the Conjoint Health Research Ethics Board

    Ensuring that studies are carried out to a high quality and as per regulations stipulated by Health Canada, the Research Ethics Board, and other oversight and regulatory bodies

    Gathering, analyzing and compiling research budget information

    Administering research budget allocations, revenues and expenditures

    Liaising between clinicians, researchers, patient partners, policymakers, partner organizations, and other team members to ensure that projects are managed effectively, on time, on budget, and are aligned with the overall objectives

    Obtain consent from families wishing to participate in research projects according to standard approved protocol

    Providing stakeholders/clients with information and advice about our program

    Assisting in the planning of current and future research projects

    Delivering engaging, informative, well-organized presentations

    Facilitating team, stakeholder and client meetings effectively, informing them of progress and status of projects

    Proactively anticipating problems and developing preventative solutions; helping to establish quality performance standards

    Analyzing data using Excel, Access and appropriate software (e.g., SPSS, NVivo, Covidence)

    Assisting in preparation of supporting materials for grant proposals and funding requests

    Opportunities to undergo training for new methodologies used in the research as needed (study design, data analysis, patient engagement, knowledge mobilization)
