Mohammad Lasker transitioned in March, 2015 into his role as AIMGA's Board Chair. He had served as Director at Large since 2013. He has previous board experience in Bangladesh with Leo Club, where he served as a President. Currently, he is actively involved in community and non profit organizations and is on the board Bangladesh Medical Society of Alberta (BMSA), as General Secretary and active member of Canadian Society of Safety Engineering (CSSE).
Luis Araujo earned his Medical Degree in 1990 from the University Autonoma Metropolitana, Mexico. After obtaining his General Surgery Diploma in 1995 from the Centro Medico Nacional Siglo XXI, Mexico, he returned to Colombia where he worked as General Surgeon for over eight years in surgical areas such as Vascular, Emergency Trauma, Oncology and Abdominal Surgery. In 2003, Dr. Araujo and his family immigrated to Canada. On pursuing his Canadian medical license,
He has passed the Medical Council of Canada Exams (EE, QE1 and Nac Osce). Currently, he is working with the AHS- SAOTDP as a Tissue Specialist. Dr Araujo is working closely with the AIMGA board members to make this association stronger and successful for all associates.
Syed graduated as a Physician from Pakistan and worked in Otolaryngology for a couple of years, He
developed interest in the field of Audiology and attained Doctor of Audiology degree from A.T.Still University in Arizona,
USA. He is currently working as Registered Audiologist / Clinic Manager for Miracle Ear Hearing and Balance Clinic, Calgary since year 2008. He brings a wealth of experience, has been on professional committees of Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists. He is a faculty member and mentor for Audiology graduate program of UBC School of Medicine and HAP program at Grant MacEwan University, Alberta.
The affairs of AIMGA shall be governed by the Board of Directors, hereafter referred to as “the Board”. The Board will be composed of the following positions: Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and Directors at Large. The minimum number of Board members is five and the maximum is nine.
Positions within the Board (Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer, Secretary and Directors at Large) will be determined by the Board itself through nomination and a subsequent vote. The terms for Board positions are two years.
Board members will ideally have experience or knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Board Governance, Financial Management & Resources, Fund Raising, Program Development, Related Organizations, Public Relations, Political Community, Advocacy, Not-for-Profit Law and the Alberta Health Care System. Board Members who do not have experience with Board governance will be required to attend workshops on the subject arranged by AIMGA.
