New Medical Residency Training Stream
The Province of British Columbia is launching a new medical residency stream in 2024 to attract and retain more physicians for critical specialties. This pilot program will offer up to 20 expanded residency opportunities to both Canadian and internationally trained medical graduates. Link for more details: Click here

AIMGA has been working behind the scenes to set up an online member forum. You can use the forum to ask questions or share information with other members. The forum is moderated by staff members and is available by clicking here.

Online AIMGA groups are now available and these groups provide a variety of tools and information to group members. You can visit the Resources link for a group to access documents, links to videos, and so on. You can ask or answer questions in a group forum, and each group has a member directory can help you find peers and identify networking opportunities. Expanded IMG pathways
The Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) is expanding its pathways for IMGs to meet the requirements for ECFMG Certification and to participate in the 2022 National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) Main Residency Match. The pathways evaluate IMGs' clinical and communication skills, which are critically important to participate in U.S. graduate medical education (GME) and to provide supervised patient care.Click here for more information.

Being a member of AIMGA had always been very helpful for me. Like many others, this is my first time applying to CARMS. Before CET, I wasn’t aware of the details of supporting documents required for CARMS application. I would like to thank AIMGA specially Mahenaz who did a wonderful job delivering CETs to IMGs and being helpful regarding my CaRMS application and reviewing my Resume and Personal Statements.

The CTP program was invaluable at helping me carve out a career path for myself. Firstly it made me feel less alone in this journey. The various mentors and the paths they had taken offered great insight and hope and gave the confidence I needed to make a transition in my career. I shared my interests and the program advisors were very helpful in connecting me to people in the industry. This gave me real insights into the industry, it’s requirements and my place in it. I feel without all the support at AIMGA I would have still been unsure and possibly still trying to get into residency with the odds stacked against me. As opposed to this, now I am part of a Masters program and have the path set towards a career of my interest. I am grateful for all the support the CTP and AIMGA provide.

The study groups at AIMGA were very instrumental to my success
I came across AIMGA via a friend, and I have to say, joining AIMGA has been one of the best decisions I ever made. The study groups at AIMGA were very instrumental to my success in passing the MCCQE1 and NAC OSCE. AIMGA helped me focus on reading and kept me motivated. Apart from getting to pass my exams, I was able to connect with people on the same journey as me and I made good friends in the process. I am indeed very thankful to the work and dedication AIMGA staff put into the success of all it’s members.

The journey to practice in Canada is long and arduous. There were days when I felt like a boat in a rough storm at sea. AIMGA’s study group really helped me
I have passed QE1 and I want to show my gratitude toward AIMGA. AIMGA’s study group really helped me by providing the materials needed to prepare myself and the group discussions helped me to clarify the various topics particularly the portion on ethics.
